Jordann Wilson, a 5-foot-5 junior guard from Alton High, has been named to the first team, all-Southwestern Conference girls basketball squad.
Wilson averaged a team-best 14.8 points per game for the 15-13 Redbirds, who enjoyed their first winning season since 1984-85. She also supplied 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, and shot 75 percent from the free throw line.
Teammate LaJarvia Brown, a 5-1 sophomore guard, was selected to the second team. She averaged 14.5 ppg.
Kortney Dunbar and Aaliyah Covington of SWC champion Edwardsville were among the six players picked to the first team. The Tigers finished 28-2 overall and 14-0 in the SWC. Dunbar is going to play college basketball at Tennessee. Covington is headed to Saint Louis University.
Montira Mosby of Belleville East, Shay Fluker of Belleville West and Breinnair Cox of East St. Louis also were named to the first team. Imani Berry and Jesheon Cooper of Belleville West, Kennedy Martin of Edwardsville, Jasmine Bonds of O’Fallon and Aubreeny Brady of Collinsville joined Alton’s Brown on the second team.
Morgan Sharpe of Edwardsville was one of six players selected to the third team.
The eight conference coaches conducted the voting.
AHS coach Bobby Rickman said the Redbirds have added St. Louis power Incarnate Word and Quincy Notre Dame to their schedule for next season. They will play Incarnate Word at home and go to Quincy Notre Dame.
In addition, Alton will participate in the State Farm Holiday Christmas Tournament at Jefferson City, Mo., and compete in the Washington Tournament (same as the boys) next January.
