The 20th annual Alton Road Runners summer series will feature three main events June 11 to July 31 at sites in Alton, Godfrey and Wood River.
Russ Colona, president of the Road Runners and head track and cross country coach at East Alton-Wood River High, is coordinating the events.
The Alton Memorial Family Run is set for Saturday, June 11, at Glazebrook Park in Godfrey. Races start at 9 a.m. It will have two age groups.
Their 38th Hit-N-Run Pee Wee Run goes Sunday, July 10, at Gordon F. Moore Park in Alton. Races begin at 8 am. There are two age groups for participating youths.
And the annual Dash-N-Splash event is scheduled for Sunday, July 31, on the Orville Yocum Track at EA-WR. Running begins at 5 p.m. There also will be competition from 7-9 p.m. at the Wood River Aquatic Center.
Pre-registration is $5 by June 1 for youths 14 and younger. Pre-registration costs $50 by June 1 for an entire family (two adults and three children). Races will get going at 5 p.m. and include five divisions of competitors.
There will be awards and prizes during the series, which began in 1997.
