The 27th Annual West Central Illinois All-Star Football Game will be played Saturday, June 13 at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School's West Campus in Springfield. The game will feature 101 senior high school players from the 2014 season representing 33 high schools in West Central Illinois.
Practices will be held beginning June 8 at 6 p.m. for South squad players at Lindenwood University in Belleville and for North squad players at Williamsville High School. Nick Flowers of Carrollton will coach the South, while Aaron Kunz of Williamsville will coach the North.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults or students with children under age 12 admitted free. There will be full concessions along with All-Star game t-shirts available for sale by The Cubby Hole. Gates will open one hour before game time.
Last year, the North topped the South 55-30 as the two teams combined for 85 points, shattering the previous All-Star record of 61 points set in 2005. The North leads the South 13-6 in the all-time series. Prior to becoming a North-South game in 1996, the West held a 5-2 lead over the East.
Alton, Civic Memorial and Roxana High Schools will be represented on the South squad. The Redbirds are sending running back/defensive back Kareem Hamilton, linebacker/O-lineman Ricco Gipson and O-lineman/D-lineman Zach Edwards. CM will be represented by wide receiver/defensive back Brayton Williams and O-lineman/D-lineman Travis Pfeifer. The Shells will have five players in the game, wide receiver Alec Revelle, fullback/defensive back Logan Reardon, running back Seth Chester, linebacker/O-lineman Luke Curtis and O-lineman Brennan Harris.
