Blake Marks | Boys’ Basketball
The East Alton-Wood River junior has been an explosive scorer for the Oilers thus far on the season. Marks leads 2-5 EA-WR with 155 points in seven games for an average of 22.1 ppg.
He’s been a bright spot while senior Mike Stimac has been limited to only two games this season due to injury. On Dec. 12 Marks paced the Oilers with 25 points before fouling out in the 57-55 overtime loss at rival Roxana. Marks’ performance helped EA-WR own a 34-29 lead at the half against the Shells and then a 46-42 lead after three quarters before ultimately falling short.
Marks’ high point total for the season came in a 57-56 victory over Bunker Hill on Nov. 29 at the Metro East Lutheran Turkey Tip-Off Classic with 28 points.
Allie Troeckler | Girls’ Basketball
Troeckler continues to impress in just her sophomore season for the Civic Memorial Eagles. On Dec. 13 Troeckler compiled the best game of her career to date for the Eagles, setting the new benchmark for points in a game for the CM program.
Troeckler erupted for a whopping 44 points on Dec. 13 in a 73-63 triumph over Taylorville, surpassing the previous program record of 39 points in a game set by former CM standout Katie Broadway. Troeckler also had 10 rebounds in the performance vs. Taylorville.
She has helped steer the Eagles to a 7-2 record on the young season and besides leading the squad in points per game at 21.9 per clip, she leads them with 8.9 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game, 3.2 steals per game and 2.56 blocks per game.
