Mike Stimac | Boys’ Basketball
Stimac, a senior at East Alton-Wood River, has helped bring a little stability to the lineup since his return from injury. Before Monday’s press time, the Oilers were 2-2 since Stimac’s return.
In the first two games of the Carlinville Holiday Tournament, Stimac helped EA-WR to a 1-1 record. The 6-foot-3 blue-collar player, still not at 100 percent from a knee injury, posted a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in a 70-38 victory over Mount Olive. Against Staunton, Stimac scored a team-high 18 points in a chippy 68-59 defeat.
The Oilers continued with games in Carlinville on Monday and Tuesday.

Boone’s efforts helped propel Marquette into the semifinals in Freeburg on Monday. The tourney continued on Monday and Tuesday following press time.
Boone poured in a game-high 25 points in a 50-42 win over Waterloo in Freeburg and then paced the Explorers again in a 63-37 drubbing of Lebanon with 18 points.
