Jaquan Adams | Basketball
Adams, a freshman for the Civic Memorial Eagles, was a key component in CM securing its first regional crown in 22 years on March 6 in Jerseyville.
Adams scored 17 points in the 48-42 Class 3A Jersey Regional semifinal win over Highland on March 4 to complement senior Jakob Lowrance’s game-high 19 points. That was a career-high point output for Adams.
Highland head coach Matt Elledge said of Adams after the game, “We knew what he could do and he stepped up for them.”
Adams then complemented Lowrance again in the regional finals vs. Jersey, logging a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go with Lowrance’s 27 points and 11 rebounds. CM beat the Panthers 53-45 in the title tilt.
Allie Troeckler | Basketball
Just a sophomore for the Civic Memorial Eagles, Troeckler was named Class 3A AP first-team all-state on March 5. Troeckler accumulated 58 points to be the fourth-highest first-team selection and was the only player younger than a junior on either the first or second team.
Troeckler averaged a team-high 21 points per game this season and helped lead the Eagles to the Class 3A Highland Sectional finals on Feb. 26 when they lost 36-31 to Massac County.
After just two seasons at CM, she is perched fourth on the all-time scoring list with 1,139 points in her short career. She also set the single-season rebounding mark with 288 this season and had a program single-game high with 44 points on Dec. 13 vs. Taylorville.
