Logan Reardon | Football
The Roxana senior fullback closed out his career in style in his final game, a 49-22 playoff loss to Carterville at Charlie Raich Field.
Reardon carried the ball 23 times for 158 yards and a pair of 1-yard touchdowns.
On a 32-yard run in the first quarter, Reardon set the record for most rushing yards in a season for the Shells. He surpassed Robert Rahn, who had gained 1,630 yards in 2001 while at Roxana. Reardon finished his senior campaign with 1,761 yards rushing and 25 rushing TDs. He also had two receiving TDs and accrued 182 total points on the season, also a single-season benchmark for Roxana.
Alex Singleton | Cross Country
The Civic Memorial junior couldn’t quite crack the top 25 at the Class 2A state meet at Peoria’s Detweiller Park to earn all-state honors, but Singleton concluded her season on a good note.
Singleton ran to 39th place in the Class 2A girls’ race, posting a time of 18:19. Unfortunately, she was 21 seconds off the pace for her bid at earning a spot in the top 25 and securing all-state honors.
As a sophomore Singleton was 27th at state, while as a freshman competing in Class 1A, she ran to 93rd place.
Singleton battled some illness during the 2014 season, which was highlighted by a third-place finish at the Class 2A Decatur MacArthur Sectional the week prior to state.
