Female Athlete of Week
Troeckler, just a freshman, has supplied vital contributions for the Eagles during their record-setting season. CM took a 31-2 record into its super-sectional game, following regional and sectional championships.
The 5-foot-10 Troeckler scored 14 points in the Eagles’ 56-40 victory over Carbondale for the first basketball sectional championship in school history. She also tallied 12 points in CM’s sectional semifinal win over Effingham.
During the season, Troeckler is averaging a team-best 13.3 points per game, even though she is usually cast as a reserve, albeit the team’s first player off the bench. Troeckler is shooting a team-high 56 percent from the field and is averaging 5.6 rebounds, second to senior Megan Trost.
The Eagles, champions of the Jersey Christmas tournament and co-champs of the Mississippi Valley Conference, carried a 15-game winning streak into their Elite Eight game. Their only two losses were to Teutopolis in the title game of the Salem Tournament and to Highland in a Valley game.
Male Athlete of the Week
Alec Revelle has had a fantastic season with Oiler Hockey. He led his team to a Class 1A North Division Championship last week over Highland and is his team’s top scorer. With the Oilers’ win over Highland in the title game they were thrust into the playoff finals this week against Collinsville. Though EA-WR dropped the first game, they came back for a redeeming win the next night. However, EA-WR fell Thursday to the Kahoks in the title game, ending their season just one win shy of a Mississippi Valley Club Hockey playoff championship.
