Moline Post 246 was too much to handle for Alton Post 126 in the Junior American Legion State Tournament.
First, Moline cruised to a 13-1 win over the Alton juniors in the winner's bracket game on Saturday. On Sunday, Moline beat Alton again, this time a 3-0 win in the championship game.
Alton finished its season at 26-16. It finished with a 10-2 record with a pair of titles in the postseason.
Alton won the District 22 Tournament at Valmeyer on July 18. Six days later, the squad captured the Fifth Division championship to advance to state.
Alton finished with a 3-2 record at state. It beat Charleston and Valmeyer in its first two games at state before losing to Moline in the winner's bracket game on Saturday. Moline snapped Alton's six-game winning streak.
Alton bounced back to beat Danville 5-2 in a loser's bracket game on Saturday evening to earn another meeting with Moline in the championship game.
With the win over Alton, Moline won its first state title in its four-year history of the program. Moline went 9-0 in the postseason and finished 31-7.
