Civic Memorial, the girls’ basketball champion of the Mississippi Valley Conference, placed three players on the league’s top team.
Seniors Lindsey Fencel and Megan Trost, plus freshman Allie Troeckler, were named to the all-Valley first squad. All three played an integral part in the Eagles snaring their third conference championship. CM also won a regional title and its first sectional crown in finishing its season at 31-3.
Trost averaged 12.1 points and 5.7 rebounds. Troeckler averaged 13.1 points and 5.5 rebounds.
Fencel set school records for assists and steals. She averaged 6.8 points, 5.38 assists and 3.71 steals her final season.
Olivia LaPorta, a junior from Highland; Brittney Zipfel, a senior from Mascoutah; and Sophie Thompson, a sophomore from Triad; also were named to the Valley’s first team.
Jersey’s Macy Thurston, along with CM’s Addie Ballard, Brittney Zipprich and Hannah Neimeier; were chosen to the second team. All are seniors. So were sophomores Amanda Ponce of Highland and Maddie Nekola of Mascoutah.
Lia Roundcount, a junior from Jersey; joined Highland’s Bailey Leitschuh, Emily Holtzclaw and Emily Vonder Haar; Waterloo’s Taylor Augustine and Hope Elliott, plus Triad’s Abby Burroughs as honorable mention selections.
The six conference coaches conducted the voting.
