SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Lexi Gober of Edwardsville was selected as the Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last weekend in three matches at the Wingate Invitational.
Gober, a junior, led Upstate with four blocks as the Spartans posted a perfect 3-0 record at the tournament hosted by Charleston Southern, increasing their winning streak to a season-best four matches. She tallied 29 digs and averaged 2.64 per set, while contributing 113 assists, 10 kills and five service aces. The setter had two double-doubles over the weekend in victories against South Carolina State and Charleston Southern. Gober recorded 42 assists and 11 digs versus S.C. State, and followed later in the day with 43 assists and 10 digs against Charleston Southern. For the season, she is second on the team with five double-doubles. Gober ranks second in the A-Sun in service aces, third in assists and 10th in digs. It is her first career A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week honor.
