EDWARDSVILLE 30, BELLEVILLE WEST 7 — The Tigers built a 23-0 lead at halftime and never looked back against the Maroons in their Homecoming game Friday at the District 7 Sports Complex.
With the win, EHS is now 6-1 and 4-1 in the Southwestern Conference. West slipped to 3-4 and 3-2 with the loss.
The Tigers upped their lead to 30-0 after three quarters before giving up a TD to the Maroons in the fourth quarter.
Dayleon Harris, Dionte Rodgers, Brenden Dickmann and Chris McCartney all scored rushing TDs for Edwardsville in the win. Riley Patterson chipped in on the scoring fun with a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter also. Rodgers 45-yard rushing TD with 22 seconds left in the first quarter was the longest.
EHS returns to action at 7 p.m. in Alton for Week 8. The Redbirds stumbled 41-27 at Granite City on Friday to plummet to 0-7 on the season.
GILLESPIE 20, ROXANA 8 — The Shells dipped to 1-6 Friday on the road in a loss to Gillespie, while the Miners moved to 2-5.
Roxana will play host to Staunton in Week 8. The Bulldogs lost 56-7 to Greenville on Friday to fall to 1-6.
