ALTON — Players are needed for the Go Low golf event, set for Saturday, Aug. 20, at Cloverleaf Golf Course on Fosterburg Road in Alton. It's the fifth stop on the Metro Cup points race series.
The one-day tournament features 36 hole and offers stroke-play competition. There's an Open Division, as well as flighted ones. Jim Odle of Litchfield is the defending Open Division champion.
Entry fee is $120 for flighted play and $140 for open competition.
"We have about 10 playing professionals entered this year," said Odle, the event coordinator . "Our numbers in the Open Division have doubled and that division is full."
He pointed to Bloomington pros Brandon Holtz, Casey Pyne, plus St. Louisan Bob Gaus, as some of the top players in the field.
Odle added, "Players of all abilities are invited to mix it up with the pros. We have some flighted division spots available."
