Jack Patterson helped the Marquette Explorers win a quadrangular match on Wednesday at the Timberlakes Golf Course in Staunton.
MARQUETTE 157, STAUNTON 199, SOUTHWESTERN 205, VANDALIA 214 – A day after starting their season with a championship at the Alton Tee-Off Classic, the Marquette Catholic Explorers began their dual-match season on Wednesday on a high note.
The Explorers defeated Staunton, Southwestern and Vandalia in a quadrangular match at the Timberlakes Golf Course in Staunton and improved to 3-0.
Michael Holtz, who shot an even par in the 18-hole Alton Tee-Off Classic, and Kolten Bauer led the Explorers with a 38. Jack Patterson fired a 40, Nick Messinger and Duncan McClain each shot a 41 and Sam Cogan finished with a 50.
The Explorers will be competing in the Madison County championship tournament on Thursday at Belk Park Golf Course.
COLLINSVILLE 185, CIVIC MEMORIAL 220 (GIRLS)– The Civic Memorial Eagles had all four of their players shoot in the 50s, but it wasn't enough to beat Colllinsville in a triangular match on Wednesday at Arlington Greens in Collinsville.
MaiseyWatson led the Eagles with 53. Izzy Roberts and Carmen Phillips shot a 54 and Reagen Walters finished with a 59.
Roxana didn't have a team score as it has just three golfers compete. Bailey Sharpmack was the medalist in the match, shooting a 40. Amanda Morgan shot a 66 and Linzi Sweetin finished with an 81.
