Registration is under way for the Cardinals Care Ted Savage RBI Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 9, at the Norman K. Probstein Golf Course in Forest Park.
Former Cardinal Ted Savage started the tournament 26 years ago to help children who participate in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Program. RBI is a Major League Baseball youth outreach program designed to increase participation in baseball among underserved youth, encourage academic achievement and preparation, promote greater inclusion of minorities into the game, and teach the value of teamwork.
“The Ted Savage RBI Golf Classic is a day of golf, good times and giving back,” said Michael Hall, vice president of community relations and executive director of Cardinals Care. “We hope fans can come out to the course and enjoy a game of golf knowing they’re fostering the growth of young ballplayers on and off the field.”
Each foursome will be paired with a former Cardinals player or St. Louis celebrity. The tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. and features prizes for first-, second- and third-place teams, closest to pin and longest drive.
In addition to doughnuts, coffee, juice, beer, soda, water, snacks and lunch, each participant will go home with a goody bag.
