Sam Coffey and Larry Franklin, both of Alton, have reason to celebrate.
The golfers achieved the best-of-the-best on the links, each sinking hole-in-ones at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Godfrey recently. Neither of them is new to the feat. It was the third ace for Coffey, while Franklin enjoyed his second.
Coffey hit his on July 31. He was on No. 6 at Rolling Hills on the regular course. He used his 7-iron from 135 yards out to sink the stupendous shot.
Chris Smith, Joe Pent and Matt Bauman were on hand to witness Coffey's exploits.
Franklin's ace came on Aug. 2 on the regular course at Rolling Hills. His was on No. 2 from 125 yards out. He used his 9-iron to bury his boss blast.
