Basketball | Addaya Moore
After her first year with the Granite City girls’ basketball team this winter, Addaya Moore found out playing against the Southwestern Conference is not easy.
“It’s no joke,” the Granite City junior said. “It’s really different than Missouri basketball.”
Still, Moore turned in a solid season in conference play, averaging 16 points per game in nine conference contests. She finished as the Warriors’ top scorer, averaging 19 points per game.
The strong offensive effort impressed all of the Southwestern Conference girls’ basketball coaches. Moore, a transfer from Riverview Gardens, earned first-team all-league honors and was the lone Granite City player on the all-conference team.
Moore received her honor during the Granite City Winter Sports Awards Ceremony March 7. She also picked up another honor — this week’s Granite City AdVantage News Athlete of the Week.
Moore was one of four juniors on the all-conference team. Edwardsville’s Makenzie Silvey, O’Fallon’s Marta Durk and Collinsville’s Kaitlyn Fischer were the other juniors and they also earned first-team honors.
Moore was also one of 11 Granite City athletes to earn all-league honors this winter.
