Football | David Lane
Lane helped the Civic Memorial football team inch closer to a state playoff berth by turning in a solid all-around performance against Mascoutah on Sept. 23.
The CM senior threw a 29-yard touchdown pass, ran back a 50-yard punt for a score, had a 40-yard reception and had two interceptions and two tackles on defense to lift the Eagles to a 44-7 win over the Indians at Mascoutah.
The strong effort earned Lane this week’s AdVantage News Athlete of the Week award.
With the win, CM improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Mississippi Valley Conference play with four games remaining.
This season, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Lane has 12 receptions for 177 yards with one touchdown; he’s rushed for 36 yards on four carries and has 16 tackles on defense. Last year, he had 33 receptions for 545 yards and five TDs.
