Tri-City Speedway welcomes the Hell Tour to the 3/8-mile, oval dirt track in Granite City on June 20 with a $10,000 to -win purse in the UMP Late Models class.
The DIRTcar Racing Summer Nationals has earned the title Hell Tour because of the strenuous schedule.
“This year’s schedule is 31 races in 39 days,” said Sam Driggers, director of the Summer Nationals series. “After those 39 days, a driver will have been behind the wheel just under 5,200 miles in roughly 88 hours, so that qualifies to be called the ‘Highway to Hell.’”
Whereas most local dirt track racers may race one to two days a week, the Summer National series drivers will race six nights a week. DIRTcar racing requires a membership to participate. A temporary membership can be purchased for a single event, but a full membership is required to receive special prizes and bonuses.
Tri-City Speedway is holding its NAPA Night on the evening of the Summer Nationals.
One of the bigger races held at Tri-City during the hot summer months, the fans enjoy the large purse prizes that draw intense action and aggressive driving.
