LOWRANCE SCORES 1,000 IN WIN OVER DUPO — Jakob Lowrance and the Civic Memorial Eagles made quick work of the Dupo Tigers Friday at the Freeburg-Columbia Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles blew by the Tigers 74-27 in Pool D action in Freeburg. Lowrance joined the 1,000-point club at CM by scoring 12 points on Friday. The Eagles improved to 6-4 with the win.
Caleb Buhs and Brandon Hampton paced CM with 14 points apiece. Brett Lane also chipped in eight points in the victory.
The Eagles were never in danger of losing, as they recorded their most lopsided win on the season. They led 24-9 after one quarter, 46-11 at the break and 67-19 after three frames.
Next up for CM is the host Midgets at 5 p.m. Saturday to close out pool play in the tournament.
EA-WR POUNDS MOUNT OLIVE IN CARLINVILLE — The East Alton-Wood River Oilers opened the Carlinville Holiday Tournament in style on Friday, walloping the Mount Olive Wildcats 70-38.
EA-WR improved to 4-5 with the triumph and will now face Staunton at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Oilers were guided by junior Blake Marks and senior Mike Stimac. Marks poured in 23 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals, while Stimac posted a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to accompany five blocked shots. Nic Daily joined the action with 11 points.
ROXANA DROPS TWO AT PINCKNEYVILLE — The Roxana Shells find themselves in bronze bracket play after a pair of losses Friday at the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic in Pinckneyville.
The Shells lost to Carterville and Olney and will now play DuQuoin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The winner of that game will play for ninth place, while the loser will battle for 11th place.
CM GETS BY JERSEY IN JERSEYVILLE — The Civic Memorial Eagles snuck by the host Jersey Panthers on Friday in the seventh annual Jerseyville Holiday Tournament by the score of 55-50.
The Eagles improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference, while Jersey sank to 2-9 and 0-5. The game counted as Jersey's home match with CM in the MVC.
Allie Troeckler paced the Eagles with a game-high 23 points. Katelyn Turbyfill, 15 points, and Kaylee Eaton, 12 points, joined Troeckler in double figures.
Next up for CM is the Collinsville Kahoks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
MARQUETTE BATTLES PAST VALMEYER IN LEBANON — The Marquette Catholic Explorers forged through their opening game at the Lebanon Holiday Tournament on Saturday, besting Valmeyer 49-30.
The Explorers will now face Columbia at 6 p.m. Saturday in Lebanon.
EA-WR FALLS TO NOKOMIS IN CARLINVILLE — The Nokomis Redskins handed the East Alton-Wood River Oilers a loss in their opening game at the Carlinville Holiday Tournament on Friday.
The Redskins cruised by the Oilers 53-22.
EA-WR battles Staunton at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
