On Feb. 12, three Piasa Southwestern baseball players inked letters of intent to play college baseball with Lewis and Clark Community College.
Spencer Heinman, Andrew Fry and Blake Lawson all got their collegiate decisions out of the way prior to their senior seasons with the Piasa Birds. All three contributed to the lineup and on the mound for a 22-12 Southwestern squad last year.
Heinman was 10-2 with a 1.62 ERA on the hill, while batting .350 with a homer and 21 RBIs and playing in the outfield. Fry, an outfielder, batted .299 with two home runs and 20 RBIs, while going 4-1 with a 4.00 ERA during his time pitching.
Lawson was the leading hitter for the Piasa Birds, hitting a team-best .374 to accompany a team-best 30 RBIs. He also had a team-best 12 doubles, while anchoring the infield at shortstop. In limited action on the hill, Lawson was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
The trio will look to be valuable editions to the Trailblazers next season.
