CM TOPS TRIAD — The Civic Memorial Eagles picked up a Mississippi Valley Conference win on Friday, defeating Triad 41-38.
The Eagles improved to 17-9 overall and 5-3 within the MVC. Triad fell to 7-18 and 3-5 with the loss.
Jakob Lowrance led all scorers with 16 points in the win. Adam Hill and Zack Lehnen complemented him with seven points apiece.
Next up for CM is a 7:30 p.m. showdown with Highland on Tuesday.
ROXANA SLIPS BY HILLSBORO — The Roxana Shells beat Hillsboro 51-35 in South Central Conference action on Friday.
The Shells moved to 14-15 and 5-4 in the SCC with the win.
It was the regular season finale for Roxana, which now enters the Class 2A Southwestern Regional as the No. 2 seed. The Shells don't take the court until 7 p.m. Thursday. The title tilt is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
EA-WR SUFFERS LOSS — The East Alton-Wood Rivers traveled to Greenville and came away with a 70-48 loss.
EA-WR, which has a 10-17 record, is preparing to enter the Class 2A Southwestern Regional at 7 p.m. Monday against Carlinville in Piasa.
Blake Marks led the charge for the Oilers against the Comets on Friday, pouring in a game-high 23 points. Mike Stimac netted nine points, while Nic Daily scored seven.
GRAHAM COMPETES ON DAY 1 AT STATE — Eryka Graham of Alton struggled a little bit on her first day at state.
Graham came in 56th with 1,209 total pins. She turned in series' of 610 and 599. Her best game was her last when she rolled a 257. Graham's average was 201.5.
Kyra Udziela of Lemont is tops on the leaderboard with a total of 1,397 pins. Udziela rolled a 300 on the opening day at state to help propel her to the top.
Collinsville is on the top of the heap in the team standings with 6,310 total pins.
The state tournament concludes on Saturday.
