BOYS' BASKETBALL
CM GETS MVC WIN OVER WATERLOO — The Civic Memorial Eagles welcomed the Waterloo Bulldogs on Friday in Mississippi Valley Conference action and came away with a 58-55 win.
CM improved to 13-8 overall with the win and 3-2 in the MVC. Waterloo fell to 9-11 and 1-4.
For the second time in a week Jakob Lowrance scored 31 points to lead the Eagles. He also had 10 rebounds and four blocks, while nailing 5 of 8 3-pointers.
CM is back in action against Cairo in the Pinckneyville Shootout at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
ROXANA GETS BY CARLINVILLE IN SCC PLAY — The Roxana Shells picked up a 69-49 win over Carlinville on the road in South Central Conference action on Friday.
With the triumph the Shells improved to 11-13 overall and 3-2 in the SCC. The Cavaliers slipped to 3-15 and 0-4.
Four Roxana players reached double figures in the win. Trace Gentry had 23 points, while Randy Skiff had 14 points, Zachary Golenor had 11 and Chance Foss had 11.
GIRLS' BASKETBALL
MARQUETTE ADVANCES TO SATURDAY AT CARROLLTON INVITE — The Marquette Catholic Explorers produced a 52-45 win over Brussels on Friday to garner a spot in the fifth-place game at the Carrollton Hawks Invite on Saturday.
Marquette now faces the host Hawks at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Carrollton.
Andria Pace led the Explorers with 22 points on Friday, while Caitlyn Hanlon chipped in with 17 points. Brittany Pace yanked down 12 rebounds in the win.
