The East Alton-Wood River Oilers and Metro East Lutheran Knights were set to square off in football at EA-WR on Friday, but unfortunately the Knights announced they will forfeit.
It will be the third straight forfeit for MELHS, which also couldn't field a team against South Fork or Nokomis. The win will be the first on the season for the Oilers, who improve to 1-5 and 1-3 in the Prairie State Conference. It was set to be the Homecoming Game.
In an effort to continue the Homecoming tradition, the EA-WR boys' soccer team will square off with Carlinville at 7 p.m. on Thursday on the football field. It will mark the first time the Oiler booters have played on the big field in over a decade.
Admission to the soccer game will be $3 for adults and $2 for students. The EA-WR administration expects a large crowd for the event.
