ROXANA FALLS TO KNIGHTS — The Roxana Shells couldn't decipher Metro East Lutheran's zone defense on Monday at home, losing 36-24.
The loss dropped Roxana to 2-3 on the young season, while the Knights improved to 2-2 with the victory.
Maddy Sheraka of the Shells paced all scorers with 11 points in the low scoring affair. Erica Sheets complimented Sheraka with nine points.
MELHS was led by Karly Schley with nine points and Morgan Schneider with seven points.
Roxana returns to the court vs. Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at home.
LITCHFIELD RUNS PAST MARQUETTE — The Litchfield Purple Panthers proved to be a load for the Marquette Catholic Explorers on Monday at home.
Marquette stumbled in a 64-25 loss to Litchfield to drop to 3-3 on the season. Caitlyn Hanlon paced the Explorers in the loss with 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the free throw line.
Next on the docket for Marquette is Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at home.
ALTON TAKES THIRD AT KAHOK CHALLENGE ON SATURDAY — The Alton Redbirds rolled their way to third place at the Kahok Challenge at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville on Saturday.
The Redbirds turned in 5,562 pins to take third behind champion Collinsville (5,833) and Herrin (5,608).
Alton's Ashley Heistand finished seventh individually with a score of 1,206.
The B squad for the Redbirds finished 16th overall, scoring 2,098 pins.
Alton gets another shot at the Kahoks at 3:30 p.m. today at a showdown at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville.
