ROXANA STUMBLES AT HOME AGAINST CARLINVILLE — The Roxana Shells never had an answer for the Carlinville Cavaliers Monday at Larry Milazzo Gym.
Carlinville cruised by the Shells 50-24 to improve to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the South Central Conference. Roxana slipped to 4-5 and 1-4 with the loss.
The Cavs jumped out to a 15-7 lead after one quarter and led 24-10 at the break and never looked back.
Maddy Sheraka directed the struggling offense for the Shells with 10 points, while Erica Sheets tossed in five points for good measure.
Carlinville received 13 points apiece from Talesha Scott and Megan Stayton in the triumph.
Next up for Roxana is the Gibault Candy Cane Classic. The Shells face Windsor at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Waterloo for their first tournament game.
East Alton-Wood River is also at the Candy Cane Classic. The Oilers play Columbia at 6 p.m. tonight at Gibault.
On Monday at Gibault, Waterloo bested Red Bud 53-36 and Cahokia got by the host Hawks 46-30.
CM TOPS HIGHLAND — The Civic Memorial Eagles rolled by Mississippi Conference rival Highland on Monday at Airport Bowl 29-11.
The Eagles gathered 3,098 total pins, while the Bulldogs accumulated 2,810.
Ryan Hayes paced CM with a 647 series, while teammate Alex Zukas turned in the best game at 269. Zukas rolled a 621 series. Other contributing Eagles were: Dalton Harshbarger (614), Jacob Troeckler (608) and Phillip Ramos (608).
BULLDOGS CLIP EAGLES — The Highland Bulldogs cruised by the Civic Memorial Eagles on Monday at Airport Bowl 38.5-1.5.
CM was guided by Joanna Krankel with a 447 series in the loss.
