EAGLES SOAR INTO FINALS AT CARROLLTON — The Civic Memorial Eagles did their part to earn a chance to defend their Carrollton Hawks Invitational title on Thursday.
CM defeated West Central 58-38 in the semifinals of the tourney after leading 28-17 at the half. The Eagles will now meet Calhoun at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the championship. Calhoun beat North Greene 84-57 in the other semifinal game on Thursday.
With the win CM improved to 19-5 on the season.
Allie Troeckler led the way for the Eagles with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Kayln Troxell chipped in 10 points, Kaylee Eaton had eight points and Katelyn Turbyfill scored seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
ROXANA SLIPS UP VS. VANDALIA — The Roxana Shells couldn't pull out a victory at Vandalia Thursday, falling 55-46.
With the loss, the Shells dipped to 14-10 on the season overall and 3-5 in the South Central Conference.
Erica Sheets paced Roxana with 17 points in the loss, while Maddy Sheraka scored 15 points. It leaves Sheraka just 15 points short of the all-time school scoring record.
Her next opportunity to break the record is at 7:30 p.m. Monday when Roxana welcomes Southwestern to Larry Milazzo Memorial Gymnasium.
