BOYS’ SOCCER
ALTON 6, JERSEY 0 – Matthew Paulda and Steven Nguyen scored two goals apiece to lead the Redbirds to a shutout win over the Panthers on Monday at Jerseyville.
C.J. Nasello and Sam Van Voorhis also scored goals for Alton.
The Redbirds recorded their fourth straight shutout. They now have 10 shutouts on the season. Alton began its season with four straight shutouts.
The Redbirds will play Belleville West at 6:15 tonight in their last home game of the season at Piasa Motor Fuels Field. Alton will celebrate senior night as 20 seniors will be playing their final home match.
MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 6, ALTHOFF 2 – The Explorers won their first match since Sept. 12 after knocking off the Crusaders on Monday at Gordon Moore Park.
Chris Hartrich had two goals and an assist, Zach Weinman had a goal and three assists, Aaron Boulch had a goal and an assist, Kwame Ngwa and Brendan Nickloy each had a goal and Noah Fahnestock had an assist for Marquette, which plays a home match against Roxana at 4:30 today.
The Explorers improve to 8-5-2. They were 7-1 after beating Granite City on Sept. 12 before going 0-4-2 in the next six matches.
FATHER MCGIVNEY 3, VALMEYER 0 – Eli Skubish scored two goals and Nate Dammerich had a goal to lead the Griffins to win over the Pirates on Monday at home.
Logan Shumate finished with 10 saves for Father McGivney, which improved to 11-4-4 and will play a road match against Althoff at 5 today.
ROXANA 11, VANDALIA 0 – The Shells snapped a 14-match losing streak with a victory over the Vandals in a South Central Conference match on Monday at Wood River Soccer Park.
Roxana improved to 2-15 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The Shells hadn’t won since Aug. 25, when they beat Staunton 3-2 in their conference opener.
Roxana played its final home match on Monday. The Shells will play Marquette Catholic at 4:30 today at Gordon Moore Park.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
ROXANA 6, GREENVILLE 3 – The Shells improved to 9-3 with a road victory over the Comets on Monday.
Roxana snapped a two-match losing streak with Monday’s win. The Shells will play a home match against Althoff at 4 today.
MARQUETTE 9, WATERLOO 0 – The Explorers cruised to a road victory over the Bulldogs on Monday.
Marquette will play another Mississippi Valley Conference team – Triad – at 4 today at Lewis and Clark Community College.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
PANA DEF. ROXANA 16-25, 25-7, 25-13 – The Shells dropped to 16-8 overall and 4-3 in South Central Conference play with a three-game loss to the Panthers on Monday at home.
Taylor Westfall has nine kills, Braeden Lackey had seven kills, Taylor Jackson finished with five kills and a block, Lindsey Cameron had two kills and one block, Abby Palen recorded a serving ace, Niah Bevolo had 20 assists and Brittany Alexander had 10 digs.
Roxana had its three-match conference winning streak with the loss to the Panthers. The Shells also lost their third home match this season.
Roxana has two conference games remaining. The Shells will play Staunton at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a conference road match.
