ALTON 4, BELLEVILLE WEST 3 — The Redbirds staved off the Maroons, who scored twice in the top of the seventh. With the win the Birds are now 11-1 and 5-1 in the Southwestern Conference.
Savannah Fisher steered the charge, going 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Alton scored three times in the first and once in the sixth.
Brittany Roady went the distance in the circle for the win. She fanned eight, walked one and scattered six hits. All three runs were unearned.
GRANITE CITY 6, COLLINSVILLE 5 — Granite City ran its record to 5-10 overall and 2-4 in the Southwestern Conference with the win at Wilson Park. It halted a five-game losing skid.
Khaley Bettorf directed the offense with three hits and a RBI, while winning pitcher Morgan Tanksley helped herself out with two hits, including a home run.
ROXANA 3, MELHS 0 — The shutout saw the Shells raise their record to 7-8, while MELHS dipped to 2-12 with the loss.
Phoebe Booher earned the win in the circle for Roxana, fanning six, walking none and scattering three hits.
Six Shells collected hits in the win, while Alexis Counts and Sam Sherer both had RBIs.
MARQUETTE 5, GREENVILLE 3 — The Explorers improved to 3-7 with the win and snapped a four-game losing streak.
Emma Taylor, Grace Frost and Miranda Schroeder each had three hits to lead the Marquette offense. Frost and Schroeder both cranked triples. Tess Eberlin had a team-best two RBIs.
Eberlin also garnered the win in the circle, walking four, fanning two and scattering eight hits. She allowed three runs, two earned.
JERSEY 10, EA-WR 9 — Jersey scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win. The loss dropped the Oilers to 6-10 on the season.
Haley Shewmake, Carly Campbell, Morgan Moxey and Thresa Hand all had two hits to pace EA-WR. Moxey and Hand each had triples in the game, while Campbell and Rebecca Null both had doubles.
Moxey took the tough-luck loss in the circle. She fanned eight and walked five over 6.2 innings.
MARQUETTE 8, GREENVILLE 1 — Marquette improved to 6-9 with the win.
Brady McAfee had three hits — including a double and a triple — and drove in two runs to pace the offense. Jacob File got the win on the mound in six innings of work.
BELLEVILLE WEST 7, ALTON 1 — The loss dropped Alton 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the Southwestern Conference.
Mikey Hampton and Steven Pattan each logged two hits to lead the offense. Aaron Bonnell had the lone RBI for the Birds. Gary Volz absorbed the loss on the hill.
COLLINSVILLE 13, GRANITE CITY 3, SIX INNINGS — The Warriors are now 2-16 overall and 1-5 in the Southwestern Conference after the loss, their 11th straight.
ST. DOMINICS 9, MELHS 3 — The Knights are 5-14 following the loss.
Reed Harmon led the MELHS offense with two hits. Paul Kubicek suffered the loss on the mound.
CM 1, MELHS 0 — The Eagles improved to 4-6-3 with the win, while the Knights are plummeted to 0-9.
Morgan Wilson scored CM's goal in the second half on an assist by McKenzie Dixon.
CARLINVILLE 2, ROXANA 1 — The Shells dipped to 6-4-1 and 1-3 in the South Central Conference with the loss.
All the scoring came in the first half. Roxana's lone goal was off the foot of Emma Lucas on an assist from Brittany Alexander. Braeden Lackey corralled seven saves in goal in the loss.
STAUNTON 6, EA-WR 2 — EA-WR is still looking for its first win. The Oilers fell to 0-10 after Thursday's loss to the Bulldogs.
Lora Ruyly scored both of EA-WR's goals on assists from Kara Crutchley. Becca Richards made 10 saves in goal in the losing effort.
ALTON 4, CM 1; ALTON 3, JACKSONVILLE 2 — The Birds improved to 11-5 with the pair of wins.
Silas Chapman/Walker Moan had two wins at No. 1 doubles, Adam Kane/Jett Durr earned two wins at No. 2 doubles and Sam Kane/Quinn Whitten won both their matches at No. 3 doubles.
MARQUETTE 9, COLLINSVILLE 0 — John Claywell, Nick Berkenbile, Joe Segneri, Peter Wendle, Nick McCune and Tom Morrissey all picked up singles wins for the Explorers, while Claywell/Berkenbile, Nathan Walters/Daniel McCluskey and Segneri/Alex Cousley all earned doubles wins.
