MASCOUTAH 4, CM 3, 10 INNINGS — It was a heartbreaker for CM Monday, losing in 10 innings on the road in Mississippi Valley Conference action at Mascoutah. The loss sank the Eagles to 16-13-1 overall and 4-4 on the MVC slate.
CM owned a 2-1 lead going into the seventh, but the Indians knotted it up in the bottom of the inning to force extras. The Eagles then went up 3-2 in the top of the 10th before Mascoutah plated two runs in the home half of the inning to escape with the win.
CM outhit the Indians 6-3 in the loss. Corey Price highlighted the offense with two hits, including a double and two RBIs.
Geoffrey Withers took the loss in relief for the Eagles. Brandon Hampton got the nod for the start and pitched 6.1 innings before giving way to Withers.
TRAID 3, ALTON 1 — The Redbirds outhit host Triad 6-4 on Monday, but were plagued by four errors which led to the loss. Alton is now 20-11 and has dropped three straight games.
Steven Pattan steered the offense with two hits and two RBIs. The Birds failed to collect an extra-base hit in the contest.
Sam Ballard absorbed the loss on the hill, as four pitchers threw in the game. Charlie Erler, Max Hunter and Devin Colley also received work. Only one of Triad's runs was earned in the loss.
Nick Beeler tossed a complete game to get the win for the Knights.
WATERLOO 8, CM 5 — The Eagles dropped the Mississippi Valley Conference game Monday at home to dip to 10-12 overall and 1-7 in the league.
Susan Buchanan had two hits and two RBIs to guide CM, while Cassie Reed supplied two hits also for good measure.
Ryan Allison was the loser in the circle. The Eagles went with a committee outing, getting work from Kaitlynn Wrenn and Shelby Whaley also in the loss.
