MISSISSIPPI VALLEY CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT – The Civic Memorial Eagles placed second in the six-team conference tournament on Wednesday at Belk Park Golf Course.
CM finished with a four-team score of 394. Waterloo won the tournament with a 381.
Isabella Roberts shot a 92 and Carmen Phillips fired a 93 to finish fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Eagles, who have a dual match with Marquette Catholic at 3:30 today at Cloverleaf Golf Course. CM is 13-11 in dual matches.
ALTON 0, MATER DEI 0 – The Redbirds picked up their second tie in 24 hours after finishing in a scoreless draw with the Knights on Wednesday on the road.
Alton finished in a 0-0 tie with Edwardsville on Tuesday.
The Redbirds’ next match will be against Gibault at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at AHS. Alton is 11-3-2 with five regular season matches remaining.
VALMEYER 4, METRO EAST LUTHERAN 2 – The Knights lost their third straight match and dropped to 6-8-1 with a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.
MELHS plays Father McGivney at 4:30 today at home.
TRIAD INVITATIONAL – Granite City brothers Andrew and Will O’Keefe finished in the top 10 in the boys’ race of the Triad Invitational on Wednesday.
Andrew placed fifth with a time of 16 minutes, 30.61 seconds and Will finished 10th with a 16:44. They helped the Warriors finish sixth out of 19 teams with 174 points.
Sam Hurst was the top finisher in the boys’ race for Civic Memorial, placing 20th with a 17:18. The Eagles finished ninth with 235 points.
In the girls’ race, CM’s Zoey Lewis placed 23rd with a 20:56, Granite City’s Chessy Nikonowicz finished 73rd with a 23:10 and Father McGivney’s Megan Schilly was 93rd with a 24:03.
BUNKER HILL DEF. ROXANA 25-23, 25-17; ROXANA DEF. MT. OLIVE 25-21, 25-12; ROXANA DEF. GREENVIEW 25-8, 25-10 – The Shells are now 15-6 after going 2-1 in Morrisonville Tournament play on Wednesday.
With the win over Greenview, Roxana has surpassed last year’s win total of 14.
The Shells will return to the Morrisonville Tournament on Saturday.
GRANITE CITY DEF. CAHOKIA 25-15, 25-22 – The Warriors snapped a three-match losing streak with a two-game win over the Comanches on Wednesday at GCHS.
Granite City improved to 7-11-1 and travels to East St. Louis at 6 tonight to take on the Flyers in a Southwestern Conference match. The Warriors are 0-4 in conference play.
BELLEVILLE EAST DEF. ALTON 25-17, 25-19 – Savannah Fisher had seven kills and Sydney Schmidt finished with seven assists to lead the Redbirds in their Southwestern Conference road loss to the Lancers on Wednesday.
Alton falls to 12-11-1 and 0-3 in Southwestern Conference play and travels to Granite City at 6 p.m. Tuesday to take on the Warriors.
DUPO DEF. FATHER MCGIVNEY 25-17, 30-28 – The Griffins dropped to 4-12 with a home loss to the Tigers on Wednesday.
Father McGivney plays a road match against Gillespie at 6 tonight.
O’FALLON 9, ALTON 0 – The Redbirds dropped to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in Southwestern Conference play with a loss to the Panthers on Wednesday.
Alton plays a road match at 3:30 today against Granite City.
EDWARDSVILLE 2, NERINX HALL 0 – Annie Mulford and Natalie Nava each scored goals to lead the Tigers to a road win over the Nerinx Hall on Wednesday.
Goalie Sarah Blume finished with 12 saves for Edwardsville, which improved to 9-5-1 and will play a home game at 10 a.m. Saturday against Kirkwood.
