CM TOPS RANKED ALABAMA PROGRAM IN SHOOTOUT — The Civic Memorial Eagles battled Lee High of Huntsville, Ala. on Monday at the MLK Shootout at North County Tech, coming away with a 56-49 victory.
CM improved to 12-8 with the win, snapping a two-game skid.
The Eagles led 17-11 after the opening quarter, 29-22 at halftime and 42-37 after three frames on their way to the win. CM yanked down 51 rebounds, 18 offensive and 33 defensive, and played solid defense to help secure the victory.
Seven Eagles contributed to the offense, led by Allie Troeckler who poured in 26 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to log a double double. Journey Coffman complemented her with 9 points, while Kaylee Eaton punched in 6 and Izzy Buckley had 5 to help lead the charge.
CM is now at Columbia at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
OILERS FALL TO MOUNT ZION IN POOL PLAY AT LITCHFIELD — Mount Zion proved too much for the East Alton-Wood River Oilers on Monday at the Litchfield Invite, toppling them 72-34.
The loss dropped the Oilers to 5-14 on the season and 0-2 in pool play in Litchfield.
Mount Zion led 21-5 after one quarter, 36-11 after two and 68-26 after three.
Blake Marks paced EA-WR with 10 points. He was one of 8 Oilers that scored in the game. Luke Wells had 6, while Joel Biesk, Justin Englar and Zaide Wilson all chipped in with 4 points.
EA-WR now draws Hillsboro at 6 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals of the third-place pool placers.
