JCHS HAVENS INVITE — The Edwardsville Tigers swept the titles at the Jersey Community High Havens Invite at Principia College on Monday.
EHS scored 20 points to win the boys' race, while tallying just 17 points to be tops on the girls' side.
Jersey's Ben Flowers won the boys' race, but the Tigers filled the next five slots.
Franky Romano led Edwardsville with a second place finish in 15 minutes, 44 seconds. Roland Prenzler (16:00), Jack Pifer (16:09), Dan Powell (16:18) and Zach Walters (16:40) finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Max Hartman was ninth and Holden Potter was 10th for the Tigers also.
The boys' team standings rounded out with EHS, Belleville East (70), Auburn (87), Jersey (88), Civic Memorial (109) and Althoff (180).
CM's Cohl Callies nabbed 11th in 17:01 to lead the Eagles. Teammate Sam Hurst was 13th, turning in a time of 17:03.
The girls' division saw Edwardsville followed by: Auburn (90), Jersey (93), Belleville East (94), Althoff (95) and Dupo (141).
EHS freshman Abby Korak won in 18:40 as the Tigers swept the top four positions. Abby Schrobilgen (18:41) was second, Melissa Spencer (18:42) took third and Jaycie Hudson (19:05) finished fourth.
Maddie Miller, Julianna Determan and Victoria Vegher were also seventh, eighth and ninth respectively for Edwardsville.
Marquette Catholic freshman Riley Vickrey took 10th in 20:10, following up on her individual championship at the Alton Invitational on Wedensday. CM was led by freshman Zoey Lewis (20:39) in 14th place. Neither Marquette nor CM entered a full squad.
ALTON 7, COLLINSVILLE 1 — With the win the Redbirds improved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southwestern Conference.
They won five singles matches and two doubles matches. Abby Fischer and Hannah Macias won in both singles and doubles on Monday, while Sam Clayton and Maddie Saenz picked up singles victories and Cali and Mackenzie Giertz prevailed at No. 3 doubles.
Alton returns to SWC action on Wednesday in O'Fallon.
TRIAD DEF. GRANITE CITY 25-17, 25-16 — The Warriors dropped to 6-11-1 with a home loss to the Knights on Monday.
Granite CIty has played its last eight matches at home and will play another home match at 6 p.m. Wednesday, when it takes on Cahokia.
GREENVILLE 3, EA-WR 1 — The Oilers dropped their third consecutive game on Monday, losing to the Comets at home.
EA-WR is now 9-6 on the season and prepares to play host to Carlinville at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, before battling Roxana at 11 a.m. Saturday in a rivalry showdown at the Wood River Soccer Park.
LITCHFIELD 3, MELHS 2 — Litchfield took a 1-0 lead into the half at MELHS Monday and made it hold up.
The Purple Panthers and Knights matched each other with two goals apiece in the second half. Metro dipped to 6-7-1 with the home loss.
MASCOUTAH 3, FATHER MCGIVNEY 1 — The Griffins dropped to 8-4-3 with Monday's home loss.
Father McGivney found itself down 1-0 at the break, scoring its lone goal in the second half. The Indians tacked on two insurance goals in the second half.
The Griffins are back in action at 4:30 p.m. today at Gordon Moore Park against host Marquette Catholic.
