EA-WR 12, VALMEYER 6 — Monday marked the sixth straight win for the Oilers, who are now 8-13 on the season.
Blake Marks picked up the win on the mound, tossing five innings and striking out six. He also helped himself out, going 2-for-3 with a home run. Zaide Wilson also had a pair of hits for EA-WR.
The Oilers have outscored their opponents 78-23 over their current six-game winning surge.
MARQUETTE 10, LITCHFIELD 0, FIVE INNINGS — The Explorers climbed above .500 at 8-7 with Monday's win. They've now won four straight.
Mike Neel led the offense with two hits, while Jacob File added a double and three RBIs.
Brady McAfee got the shutout win on the mound, fanning six and walking three.
CM 5, HIGHLAND 3 — The Eagles improved to 10-10-1 and 1-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference with Monday's win in Highland, their third in a row.
Brandon Carpenter, Corey Price and John Whitworth all logged two hits to guide the offense. Carpenter and Spencer Powell each had two RBIs.
Brandon Hampton garnered the win on the hill.
ROXANA 4, HILLSBORO 2 — The Shells kept their flawless season in the South Central Conference rolling on Monday in Hillsboro. Roxana is now just 7-11 overall, but 6-0 in the SCC.
Tanner Davis had two hits and three RBIs to pace the attack Monday. Chance Foss also contributed two hits in the win.
Sam Mosby picked up the pitching win, while Trace Gentry was credited with the save.
SOUTHWESTERN 10, MELHS 0, FIVE INNINGS — Monday's loss for the Knights at Martin Luther Field saw them plummet to 5-15 on the season.
The Piasa Birds scored four times in the third, twice in the fourth and four more times in the fifth to complete the short-game victory.
CM 3, JERSEY 2 — The Eagles picked up a big Mississippi Valley Conference victory on Monday at the Bethalto Sports Complex over rival Jersey, improving to 5-6-3 overall and 1-4-2 in league action.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, CM outscored the Panthers 2-1 in the second half to pull out the win.
Morgan Wilson scored twice to pace the Eagles, while Kassie Turner provided the game winning goal in the final minute.
Wilson and Jenna Robinson each had an assist for CM in the win.
It was the second consecutive win for the Eagles.
CALHOUN 2, ALTON 0, 12 INNINGS — Alton's Brittany Roady and Calhoun's Grace Baalman were locked in a pitcher's duel on Monday in Calhoun County, until Baalman cranked a walk-off, two-run homer in the 12th inning to stun the Redbirds. With the loss Alton dipped to 12-3 on the season, while the Warriors improved to 19-1 with the dramatic triumph.
Roady worked 11 innings, fanning 17 and walking no one, while scattering just 5 hits. Baalman tossed 12 innings, struck out 17, walked 4 and surrendered just 4 hits.
Alton got its hits from Bronte Fencel, Savannah Fisher, Taylor Herrin and Miranda Hudson. Fisher had the lone extra-base hit for the Birds with a triple.
LITCHFIELD 7, MARQUETTE 1 — The loss saw the Explorers fall to 3-8 on the season.
Emma Taylor logged the lone hit for Marquette in the loss, while Bridget Powers supplied the only RBI.
Tess Eberlin suffered the loss in the circle, fanning two, walking three and scattering seven hits. She allowed seven runs, but just two earned.
HIGHLAND 12, CM 3 — CM sank to 7-5 overall and 0-2 in the Mississippi Valley Conference with Monday's loss in Bethalto.
An eight-run first inning spurred the Bulldogs to victory on Monday, as the Eagles were never able to recover.
Isabella Roberts had two hits, as CM's only multi-hit performer. Roberts and Kalyn Harr each drove in a run.
Ryan Allison was tagged with the loss in the circle for the Eagles.
