METRO EAST NO-HITS EAST ST. LOUIS LEGION — Roxana soon-to-be senior Chance Foss was perfect as the Metro East Bears blanked the East St. Louis Senior American Legion squad 10-0 Monday at Lloyd Hopkins Field inside Gordon Moore Park.
Foss twirled a no-hitter, carving up East Side in five innings. With the victory the Bears improve to 12-3 on the season.
Metro East now welcomes Belleville to Hopkins Field for a double header beginning at 6 p.m. tonight.
SUMMERS-PORT CRUISES TO TITLE IN SWISA RELAYS — The Summers-Port Sharks did what they do best on Monday, they won.
The Sharks compiled 299 points at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville to win the SWISA Relays. It's the 19th consecutive SWISA Relays title for Summers-Port, rivaling its 22 straight SWISA Meet championships. The Sharks will go for No. 23 on July 19 at the Paddlers Swim and Dive Club in Granite City.
Summers-Port outdistance Paddlers on Monday. The Pirates were second with 221 points, while the rest of the field rounded out with Water Works of Edwardsville (179), Splash City of Collinsville (160) and Sunset Hills (115).
The Sharks won 29 of the 49 relay events on Monday.
Their next scheduled meet is on July 14 at Paddlers in Granite City.
