GRANITE CITY DEF. EAST ST. LOUIS 25-23, 28-30, 25-17 – The Warriors picked up their first Southwestern Conference win of the season after beating the Flyers on Thursday on the road.
Granite City improved to 8-11-1 overall and 1-4 in conference play and has surpassed its win total of seven from last year. The Warriors will play Alton at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home.
EDWARDSVILLE DEF. COLLINSVILLE 25-15, 25-14 – The Tigers won their seventh straight match after beating the Kahoks on Thursday at Colllinsville.
Rachel Pranger had seven kills, Rachel Verdun had 13 assists and Nicki Meyer had 10 service points with three aces for Edwardsville, which improved to 15-3 overall and 3-0 in Southwestern Conference play.
The Tigers play a home match against O’Fallon at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
HIGHLAND DEF. CIVIC MEMORIAL 23-25, 25-15, 25-17 – The Eagles dropped to 12-10-1 overall and 2-4 in Mississippi Valley Conference play with a three-game loss to the Bulldogs on Thursday at home.
CM lost to Highland for the third time this season. The Bulldogs beat the Eagles in two games in the last two meetings.
CM’s next match will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Waterloo.
BRUSSELS DEF. MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 25-18, 25-19 – Michelle Cameron finished with four kills and five blocks, Marissa Nosco had eight assists and Peyton Kline had seven assists in the Explorers’ loss to the Raiders.
Marquette dropped to 10-12 and will play Valmeyer at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
METRO EAST LUTHERAN DEF. EA-WR 25-8, 25-13 – The Knights improved to 8-15 with a two-game home victory over the Oilers on Thursday.
Courtney Fenelon had five kills and five service points, Danielle Timmerman had four kills and 10 service points with three aces and Lydia Flaherty finished with 15 assists for MELHS, which will play a home match against Collinsville at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
EA-WR, which dropped to 5-15, will play Mt. Olive at 6 p.m. Monday at home.
GARY BAIR TOURNAMENT – Edwardsville’s Addasyn Zeller fired a 1-over-73 to win the Gary Bair Tournament on Thursday at Oak Brook Golf Club.
Zeller earned medalist honors for the second straight tournament. She won the Southwestern Conference Tournament title on Tuesday at Belk Park Golf Course.
Paige Hamel finished third with a 75 and Weinacht placed ninth with an 81 for Edwardsville, placed second with a 319. O’Fallon won the tournament with 304.
ST. ANTHONY’S TOURNAMENT – The Marquette Catholic Explorers placed third with a 180 in the St. Anthony’s Tournament on Thursday at Effingham
Marquette’s Madi Connors placed third with a 41 to earn a medal.
The Explorers split their squad on Thursday, sending a group of golfers to the St. Anthony’s Tournament and another group to Cloverleaf Golf Course to play a dual match with Civic Memorial.
CIVIC MEMORIAL 179, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 253 – Isabella Roberts shot a 42 to earn medalist honors and to lead to the Eagles to a win over Explorers on Thursday at Cloverleaf Golf Course.
Carmen Phillips shot a 43, Maisey Watson finished with a 46 and Sophie Blagoue had a 48 for the CM, which finished its dual-match season at 14-11 and will compete in the Class A Marquette Regional tournament on Wednesday at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course.
Anna Lawless shot a 56, Claire Chappee had a 61, Heidi Amber had a 63 and Anna Knowles finished with a 73 for Marquette, which also will compete in the Class A Marquette Regional tournament on Wednesday.
PIONEER INVITATIONAL – Edwardsville placed third with a 326 in the Pioneer Invitational on Thursday at Weibring Golf Club in Normal.
Ben Tyrrell placed second with a 3-over-74, Tanner White finished 11th with an 11-over-82 and Spencer Patterson was 18th with a 13-over-84.
WATERLOO 6, CIVIC MEMORIAL 3 – The Eagles lost their third straight match after falling to the Bulldogs for the second time this season.
CM, which dropped to 6-8 overall and 0-7 in Mississippi Conference play, lost to Waterloo 7-0 in the last meeting on Sept. 7 at home.
The Eagles play a home match against EA-WR at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
CARLINVILLE 2, EA-WR 1 – The Oilers dropped to 9-6 with a loss to the Cavaliers on Thursday at Wood River Soccer Park.
EA-WR lost its third straight match and will play Roxana at 11 a.m. Saturday.
