BASEBALL
JERSEY 4, CM 0 — The Eagles dipped to 7-10-1 overall and 0-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference with the loss at the Bethalto Sports Complex Wednesday.
CM banged out five hits in the loss, coming from Collin Hall, Brandon Hampton, Jaxsen Helmkamp, Corey Price and Derek Walker. Hampton had a double.
Hampton suffered the loss on the mound, fanning two, walking two and scattering six hits. He allowed four runs, but only one earned. The Eagles were plagued by four errors in the game.
CBC 9, GRANITE CITY 2 — GCHS is now 2-15 following the loss. It marked the 10th consecutive loss for the Warriors.
Tyler Wheatley paced the Granite City offense with three hits and two RBIs. Gabe Jarman absorbed the loss on the hill.
CALHOUN 11, ROXANA 0, FIVE INNINGS — The Shells dropped to 5-9 with the road loss Wednesday.
Austin Presley logged two of their three hits. Zach Golenor was tagged with the pitching loss.
MOUNT OLIVE 7, MELHS 4 — The Knights are 5-13 and 0-3 in the Prairie State Conference after Wednesday's setback.
MELHS had 12 hits, with Jordan Brown, Chase Langendorf, Reed Harmon and Eli Jacobs each contributing 2.
Jacob Jump was the losing pitcher.
SOFTBALL
JERSEY 10, CM 0, FIVE INNINGS — Jersey's Ashton Tewell no-hit the Eagles on Wednesday, who dropped to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference with the loss.
The Panthers erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to finish the short-game victory in Jerseyville.
Ryan Allison suffered the loss in the circle for CM.
ALTHOFF 8, GRANITE CITY 7 — The Warriors scored three times in the sixth and three times in the seventh, but it wasn't enough to pull out the win. The defeat sank GCHS to 4-10 on the season. It was the fifth straight loss for Granite City.
MOUNT OLIVE 11, MELHS 1, SIX INNINGS — Mount Olive scored 8 times in the first inning and cruised to the win. The Knights plummeted to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in the Prairie State Conference with the loss.
Cierra Frields, Sami Kasting, Karly Schley and Emma Eberhart had hits for MELHS. Frields was the losing pitcher.
GIRLS' SOCCER
CM 0, MASCOUTAH 0 — With the scoreless tie, the Eagles are now 3-6-3 overall and 0-5-1 in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
CARLINVILLE 6, EA-WR 0 — The Oilers dipped to 0-9 with the loss to Carlinville at home.
Becca Richards made 11 saves for EA-WR in goal in the losing effort.
