METRO EAST LUTHERAN DEF. MOUNT OLIVE 21-25, 25-20, 25-10 — Lydia Flaherty finished with 34 assists and 16 serving points, Ellen Schute had eight blocks and eight kills, Courtney Fenelon had 11 kills and six blocks and Danielle Timmerman finished with eight kills to lead the Knights to a come-from-behind win over the Wildcats on Tuesday in their Prairie State Conference finale.
MELHS finished 3-2 in conference play. The Knights also had league wins over EA-WR and Nokomis.
MELHS improved to 9-21-1 and picked up its first win since Sept. 29. The Knights wrap up their regular season at 7 p.m. tonight at Roxana.
MASCOUTAH DEF. CIVIC MEMORIAL 25-17, 25-16 — The Eagles finished their regular season at 19-12-1 and 4-6 in Mississippi Valley Conference play after losing to the Indians on Tuesday.
CM, which had its seven-match winning streak snapped, is guaranteed to finish with its first winning season since 2010. The Eagles finished fourth in the conference standings after going 0-10 in each of the last three seasons.
CM returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 against EA-WR in a Class 3A Jersey Regional first-round match.
GREENVILLE DEF. EA-WR 25-9, 25-14 — The Oilers finished their regular season at 5-24 with a two-game loss to the Comets on Tuesday at Greenville.
EA-WR returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 against Civic Memorial in a Class 3A Jersey Regional first-round match.
JACKSONVILLE 9, CIVIC MEMORIAL 0 — The Eagles' season ended at 7-11-1 with a loss to the host Crimsons in the Class 2A Jacksonville Regional semifinals on Tuesday.
Jacksonville will play Highland – which beat Jersey 2-1 in the other regional semifinal on Tuesday – in the championship match at 6 p.m. Saturday.
CM was shut out for the seventh time this season.
Jacoby Robinson made 17 saves and Ricky Beck finished with two saves in goal for the Eagles, who went 2-11-1 after winning their first five matches.
