BELLEVILLE WEST 2, ALTON 0 — The visiting Redbirds lost to Belleville West, 25-12, 25-7 in a Southwestern Conference match.
The Maroons improved to 12-7 overall and 6-1 in the SWC. The Redbirds dropped to 1-9 and 1-5.
Nick Stevenson supplied 10 kills and 5 aces for West.
O’FALLON 2, EDWARDSVILLE 1 — Host O’Fallon needed three games to defeat Edwardsville in SWC play at the Panther Dome. O’Fallon won, 26-24, 22-25, and 25-19 to beat Edwardsville for the second time this season.
The Panthers hiked their overall record to 13-4-2. They lead the SWC with a 7-0 mark. The Tigers fell to 11-9 and 4-3.
Tommy Hartnagel paced the Tigers with 10 kills and 12 digs. Nick Allen and Bob Dresner both provided 16 digs.
TRACK AND FIELD
RAIN POSTPONES MADCO — The Red Division, or large-school part of the Madison County Track Meet, was postponed because of rainy weather Tuesday at Edwardsville High.
It was rescheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Winston Brown Track and Field Complex. Alton, Granite City, Collinsville, Triad, Highland and the host Tigers are competing in the boys’ and girls’ competition.
Edwardsville’s girls have won the team title for the last 15 years and the Tigers have prevailed in the boys’ action the past 7 seasons.
Roxana’s boys and Metro East Lutheran’s girls finished first in the Green Division, or small-school portion, of the MadCo Meet on Monday at Roxana High.
