ROXANA 5, SOUTHWESTERN 2 — The Shells improved to 8-4-2 overall and 3-3 in the South Central Conference with Thursday's victory.
Roxana scored twice in the first half and three times over the final 40 minutes while out-cornering the Piasa Birds 6-0 and outshooting them 40-6.
Emma Lucas scored twice while Alyssa Copeland, Abby Kurth and Mykala Rosales all tallied single goals in the win. Lucas also dished out three assists and Brittany Alexander added one.
Braeden Lackey corralled four saves in goal, garnering the victory.
MARQUETTE 7, MELHS 0 — The Explorers elevated their record to 8-6-3 with the lopsided win Thursday. The Knights plummeted to 0-10 with the loss.
Marquette scored three times in the first half and four more times in the second.
EDWARDSVILLE 8, BELLEVILLE EAST 1 — EHS kept rolling in the Southwestern Conference with Thursday's triumph, improving to 16-5 overall and 4-0 in the league play.
In singles, Zack Trimpe (No. 1), Alex Gray (No. 2), Erik Weiler (No. 3), Luke Motley (No. 5) and Carson Ware (No. 6) prevailed. Trimpe and Gray (No. 1), Weiler and Ware (No. 2) and Logan Purcell and Ben Bequette (No. 3) all teamed up to sweep the doubles flight for the Tigers.
ALTON 8, GRANITE CITY 1 — The Birds improved to 14-6 overall and 3-2 in the Southwestern Conference with Thursday's win at Granite City.
Silas Chapman (No. 1), Jett Durr (No. 2), Adam Kane (No. 3), Walker Moan (No. 4), Sam Kane (No. 5) and Brad Higdon (No. 6) swept the field in singles for Alton. In doubles, Chapman and Moan (No. 1) and Adam and Sam Kane (No. 2) picked up wins. The Warriors lone win was at No. 3 doubles.
MARQUETTE 1, BUNKER HILL 0 — Marquette snapped a two-game losing skid, improving to 9-11 overall and 2-1 in the Prairie State Conference with the triumph.
Jacob File twirled a complete-game shutout on the hill, surrendering two hits on 80 pitches and fanning three while walking no one.
Brady McAfee sparked the offense, driving in the lone run with a RBI double in the fourth inning to plate Liam Maher. McAfee and Maher each had two hits for the Explorers, including one double apiece.
EDWARDSVILLE 7, COLLINSVILLE 2 — The Tigers are now 18-4 overall and 6-2 in the Southwestern Conference following the win at Arthur Fletcher Field on Thursday. It was their fifth in succession.
Trey Riley picked up three hits, including a double and a triple and drove in two to direct the EHS offense. Kade Burns walloped a home run, one of two hits for him to go with two RBIs. Andrew Yancik also had two hits in the win.
Tyler Hosto garnered the win on the mound, while Yancik was credited with the save.
CM 15, GIBAULT 2, FIVE INNINGS — CM raised its record to 15-10-1 with the lopsided, non-conference victory.
Corey Price threw all five innings to earn the win on the mound.
Offensively, the Eagles were paced by two hits each from Brandon Carpenter and Spencer Powell. Carpenter, Brandon Hampton, Price and Derek Walker all had two RBIs in the win.
It was the eighth straight win for streaking CM.
GRANITE CITY 11, EAST ST. LOUIS 2 — The Warriors moved to 4-19 overall and 2-7 in the Southwestern Conference with Thursday's victory at East Side.
ROXANA 7, NORTH MAC 1 — The Shells won their second consecutive game, improving to 10-14 on the season.
Logan Presley earned the complete-game victory, fanning eight along the way.
Chance Foss homered and had three RBIs to highlight the offense for Roxana. Presley and Blake Vandiver had two hits apiece for good measure.
EDWARDSVILLE 7, COLLINSVILLE 0 — Edwardsville elevated its record to 16-3 overall and 8-0 in the Southwestern Conference with Thursday's win.
EHS hurler Jordan Garella earned the complete-game, shutout victory, fanning two, walking one and allowing three hits.
Sarah Hangsleben tallied three hits and two RBIs to guide the bat attack. Hayli Green complemented her with two hits and a RBI for the Tigers.
O'FALLON 2, ALTON 1 — The Redbirds suffered the tight loss in the Southwestern Conference in O'Fallon Thursday to drop to 14-4 overall and 5-2 on the league slate.
Savannah Fisher and Bronte Fencel logged the only two hits for Alton's offense. Tami Wong had the lone RBI, plating Fencel in the third inning to tie the game 1-1 at the time. O'Fallon scored in the bottom of the third with what held up as the game-winner.
Brittany Roady absorbed the loss in the circle, scattering four hits, fanning five, walking none and surrendering two runs, both earned.
GILLESPIE 11, EA-WR 0, FIVE INNINGS — The Oilers dropped to 10-14 overall with Thursday's loss.
Gillespie's Addison Bryant threw a perfect game against EA-WR in the circle and also smacked a grand slam to lead the Miners.
BELLEVILLE EAST 2, EDWARDSVILLE 0 — The Tigers fell to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in the Southwestern Conference with Thursday's defeat against the Lancers.
