ALTON 8, COLLINSVILLE 1 — The Redbirds improved to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southwestern Conference by rolling past host Collinsville.
Brittany Roady twirled a 3-hitter and struck out 14 to pace Alton. Rachel McCoy went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, while Savannah Fisher, Taylor Herrin and Miranda Hudson had two hits apiece.
CM 10, SOUTHWESTERN 9, 8 INNINGS — The host Eagles won their third in succession and sixth in their last seven games by shading the visiting Piasa Birds.
The 7-3 Eagles scored three runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and then tallied the winner in the eighth to drop Southwestern to 1-9.
Katelyn Turbyfill sparked CM by going 5-for-5 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Teammate Cassie Reed collected a triple and three RBIs. Jenna Parmentier pitched in two hits and a pair of RBIs.
EA-WR 6, BRUSSELS 5, 8 INNINGS — The host Oilers tied things in the seventh and then won it in the eighth against Brussels. EA-WR, hiking its record to 6-9, struck for 10 hits and withstood 8 errors.
Haley Shewmake and Rebecca Null had two hits for EA-WR. Carly Campbell knocked in three runs to back winning pitcher Morgan Moxey.
ROXANA 5, BUNKER HILL 3 — Hannah Rexford picked up the victory as the 6-8 Shells downed the 5-8 Minutemaids in Roxana.
Rexford helped her cause with a double and also drove home a run. Roxana led 3-0, then Bunker Hill tied the game in the fourth. The Shells regained the lead in the bottom of the inning and tacked on a run in the sixth.
WATERLOO GIBAULT 4, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 3 — Visiting Gibault scored three in the sixth to knot things at 3-3 and then tallied the winner in the eighth at Moore Park.
Sam Harshbarger, Grace Frost and losing pitcher Tess Eberlin all had two hits for the 2-7 Explorers. Eberlin allowed only one earned run as Marquette made four errors.
EDWARDSVILLE 13, BELLEVILLE EAST 1 — The Tigers started quickly and never let up in dismantling the host Lancers in SWC play. Edwardsville improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Rachel Anderson was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, while Anna Burke knocked in three runs for Edwardsville. Hayli Green also added three hits as the Tigers amassed a 7-0 advantage by the third inning.
O’FALLON 3, GRANITE CITY 1 — The Warriors lost their fourth in a row and fell to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the SWC. O’Fallon lifted its overall record to 8-3 and snapped a 1-1 tie with a run in the fourth. The host Panthers tacked on an insurance run in the fifth.
EA-WR 10, BRUSSELS 0 — Luke Wells tossed a two-hitter in guiding the Oilers past Brussels. Blake Marks went 2-for-3 with a double and had three RBIs as EA-WR improved to 5-13.
Teammate Blake Weishaupt was 2-for-2 with a home run and Tyler Hamby had two hits, one a double.
EDWARDSVILLE 3, BELLEVILLE EAST 2, 10 INNINGS — Gaining their third consecutive victory, the Tigers shaded the Lancers in SWC action at Tom Pile Field. It took a 10th inning run to win it.
Edwardsville boosted its record to 13-3 and 4-1 in the conference. A two-run sixth inning made the difference as the Tigers erupted for 13 hits. Trey Riley went 3-for-5 to lead them, while Collin Clayton, Jake Garella and Tyler Stamer all had two hits. Andrew Yancik allowed one hit over the final four innings to log the win.
LITCHFIELD 12, METRO EAST LUTHERAN 11 — The host Purple Panthers scored the decisive run in the seventh of a game that featured 23 runs and 17 hits.
MELHS scored nine runs in the top of the first inning, but couldn’t hold its lead. Litchfield used a four-run fourth and four-run fifth to get back into the game.
Paul Kubicek and Eli Jacobs both had two hits for the 4-8 Knights. Kubicek doubled and drove in three runs.
O'FALLON 11, GRANITE CITY 0, 6 INNINGS — Granite City dropped to 2-14 and 1-4 in the Southwestern Conference on Tuesday. It was the 10th straight loss for the Warriors.
Austin Bonvicino got the lone hit for GCHS. Andy Halley took the loss on the hill.
MARQUETTE 7, EA-WR 0 — The Explorers built a 5-0 lead by halftime and sailed past EA-WR at the Wood River Soccer Park.
Annabelle Copeland, Claire Dalton, Bailey Hartrich, Adriana Schindler, Elissa Senno, Abby Simonds and Madi Conners tallied goals for the Explorers. Marquette improved to 6-5-2. EA-WR sank to 0-8.
PANA 2, ROXANA 0 — A pair of first-half goals enabled host Pana to defeat Roxana in action involving South Central Conference teams.
Shells’ goalie Braeden Lackey made 14 saves, yet it wasn’t enough as the Shells lost their second straight and fell to 6-3-1.
EDWARDSVILLE 3, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF 0 — The winning streak reached seven for host Edwardsville, which posted another shutout in silencing Althoff. The 10-2-2 Tigers have recorded three consecutive shutouts and six in their last seven matches.
Ashlin West scored twice and Jane Ann Crabtree got the other goal to back keeper Regan Windau. The Tigers’ goalie made four saves.
ALTON 8, COLLINSVILLE 1 — The Redbirds romped over the host Kahoks in SWC competition. They improved to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Silas Chapman, Walker Moan, Adam Kane, Quinn Whitten and Ben Simansky prevailed in singles play for AHS. The doubles tandems of Eric Ferenbach/Joe Papin, Sam Kane/Whitten, plus Adam Kane/ Moan, all won.
BELLEVILLE EAST 2, ALTON 0 — Belleville East defeated Alton in SWC competition on the Lancers’ floor.
EDWARDSVILLE 2, EAST ST. LOUIS 0 — The Tigers bested East St. Louis by scores of 25-11, 25-10 at Lucco-Jackson Gym. The winners shot to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the SWC.
