GRANITE CITY DEF. DUPO 25-15, 25-15 – The Warriors extended their winning streak to a season-high four matches with a two-game win over the Tigers on the road on Wednesday.
Granite City improved to 10-11-1, making it the first time since 2003 the Warriors reached double digits in victories. That year, Granite City finished 15-15.
The Warriors will play in the Red Bud Tournament on Saturday. They have a pair of games in pool play – one against Lovejoy at 9 a.m. and the other against Wesclin at 11 a.m.
STAUNTON DEF. ROXANA 25-22, 23-25, 26-24 – The Shells dropped to 16-9 overall and 4-4 in South Central Conference play with a three-game loss to the Bulldogs on Wednesday on the road.
The Shells will wrap up their conference season on Oct. 20 with a road match with Gillespie.
Roxana’s next match will be at 7 tonight against Marquette Catholic in Alton.
CBC 2, EDWARDSVILLE 1 – The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season after falling to the Cadets on the road on Wednesday.
Edwardsville dropped to 12-1-5 and will play their next match at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday against Belleville West.
Bayne Noll scored the Tigers’ lone goal. He tied the game at 1-1 after scoring with 13 minutes left in the second half.
BELLEVILLE WEST 7, ALTON 2 – The Redbirds dropped to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in Southwestern Conference play with a loss to the Maroons on Wednesday in their last home match of the season.
Hannah Macias won at No. 2 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Macias and Abby Fischer picked up a victory for Alton.
The Redbirds celebrated senior night as Lucy Phillips and Abbey Peipert played their last home match of their high school tennis careers.
Alton closes out its dual-match season at 4 today at Civic Memorial.
BELLEVILLE EAST 9, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 0 – The Explorers finished their dual-match season at 7-7 with a loss to the Lancers on Wednesday at Lewis and Clark Community College.
Marquette will compete in the Triad Sectional on Oct. 14.
