ALTON GETS BY CM AND TRIAD ON THE ROAD — The Alton Redbirds kept rolling on the links Thursday at Cloverleaf Golf Course in Alton.
Civic Memorial played host to the triangular, which included the Redbirds and Triad Knights. Litchfield also participated with three individual linksters.
Alton came away with the win though, carding a 163 to distance itself from the Eagles (176) and Knights (201). CM's Allison Hemingway fired a 2-over 37 to earn medalist honors. It was the second straight day Hemingway garnered medalist honors at an event.
AHS' scoring came from: Tori Hays (38), Courtney Hachmann (40), Natalie Long (41) and Ashley Orr (44).
Outside of Hemingway, the Eagles received scoring from: Sara Gwillim (40), Kayla Slavens (45) and Lisa Logterman (54).
CM DROPS TOUGH ONE TO MASCOUTAH ON SCORECARD PLAYOFF — The Civic Memorial Eagles competed in a triangular with the Mascoutah Indians and Jersey Panthers at Westlake Country Club in Jerseyville on Thursday, but came up a little short.
The Eagles dropped a scorecard playoff to Mascoutah. Each squad fired a 164, but CM lost by a fifth score tiebreaker. The Indians had a 47 for their fifth score, while the Eagles had a 52. Jersey carded a 169 to place third as a team.
CM got scoring from J. Waters (36), Alec Hilliard (38), Eric Howes (43) and Konnar Loewen (47). Parker Calvin and Caeleb Howard each fired 52s also.
Jersey's Zach Droege was the medalist with a par 35.
ROXANA BEATS MELHS — The Roxana Shells took down the Metro East Lutheran Knights in Edwardsville on Thursday.
The Shells won 5-2 with a sweep in singles action. Sydney Owsley, Anna Ballard, Georgia Ballard and Haley Milazzo all logged wins in the team victory.
MARQUETTE FALLS TO MASCOUTAH — The Marquette Catholic Explorers traveled to Mascoutah Thursday, but came up a little short.
The Explorers lost 6-3 to the Indians, getting wins from Laura Moore and Elana Gable in singles and the team of Moore and Adri Ventimiglia won in doubles action.
With the loss, Marquette dropped to 1-1 on the season, while Mascoutah is now 2-1 with the win.
Next up for the Explorers is a home match at 4 p.m. Monday vs. Roxana.
THE EXPLORERS SUFFER SETBACK TO GREENVILLE — The Marquette Catholic Explorers couldn't get over the hump against the Greenville Comets on Thursday.
Marquette lost in straight sets 25-18, 25-23 to Greenville to drop to 3-4 on the young season.
Stat leaders for the Explorers were: Alyssa Herzing with 14 assists, Anna Daugherty with six kills, Katie Gierer with 19 digs, Caitlyn Hanlon with one ace and Taylor Rook with five blocks, two solo and three assisted.
