GODFREY — De’Antae McMurray has been awarded the Winston Harris basketball scholarship from Alton High School.
The scholarship goes to a graduating senior who has shown a commitment to Redbird basketball with good sportsmanship and high academic standards, and who will be playing the sport in college.
As a senior, McMurray helped guide the Redbirds to a second-place finish in the Southwestern Conference and a 22-6 overall record. He also assisted the Redbirds to a runner-up showing in the Centralia Holiday Tournament and a first-place finish in the Washington High School Martin Luther King Classic.
McMurray was a first-team, all-Southwestern Conference selection as a senior and was named to the District 19 IBCA All State team. He will play basketball for Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville this winter. McMurray is the son of Andre and BJ McMurray of Alton.
