ELSAH — Principia College will open its athletic facilities this summer to host a Nike overnight camp for volleyball.
“We are excited to open our doors to the community of volleyball players who are interested in improving their game,” Athletic Director Lee Ellis said. “Religion is not a factor. If athletes are interested in training with great coaches in quality facilities, they should come.”
Any athlete interested in taking their game to the next level is welcome to the following camp:
Principia College Nike Volleyball Camp (girls ages 10-18)
Join Coach Sprague at Principia College this summer for outstanding volleyball training.
Principia College offers three sessions for campers to choose from or attend the back-to-back sessions for more training.
Session I, July 12-15, All Skills:
This program is open to players of all ability levels, ages 10-18. Here you’ll master the fundamentals, develop proper mechanics and gain game play experience. Every aspect of the game is covered, giving you a solid skill foundation to build upon after camp. Boarding cost, $350; day cost (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), $250
Session I, July 12-15, High Intensity Training Camp
This camp is recommended for high school varsity (entering sophomore, junior or senior year) and club players with a commitment to the sport and the ability and motivation to play at the college level. This program stresses position play, advanced team techniques and physical conditioning.
Boarding cost, $380; day cost (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), $280
Session II, July 15-17, Position Specialty
This camp program is designed specifically for hitters, setters or liberos (defensive specialists) who want to specialize in one of these positions. Boarding cost, $270; day cost (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), $170
Session III, July 17-18, Beach Camp
Principia College hosted Nike’s first-ever beach volleyball summer camp in 2014. This program shows campers the ropes of beach volleyball by playing on smaller courts and seeing firsthand how intense it is to play doubles. Sand training is great for developing ball control and a high snap as a hitter. The athletic and volleyball training in the sand can accelerate the athlete’s progress in the indoor game. Boarding cost, $150; extended day (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), $95
