ALTON — It’s honors time for the Alton Road Runners.
They will be playing host to their 11th annual Runners of the Year banquet. It’s set for 6 p.m. Sunday at the Alton Eagles Club. Former Metro East Lutheran director of athletics and coach Dave Redden will serve as the featured speaker.
Road Runners president Russ Colona, the cross country and track coach at East Alton-Wood River High, said the Runners of the Year fete continues to grow since its inception in 2005.
“The kids look forward to it and the coaches talk about it,” Colona said. “It’s a staple now and has been a great addition to the Alton Road Runners calendar."
He added, "I think it's an established part of the cross country season and running season. It's a great way to finish it all."
Tickets are $10 apiece and can be purchased at the door. For more information, contact Colona at 972-8635.
