I would just like to introduce myself to the AdVantage News readership community.
My name is Bill Roseberry and I am excited to come aboard as the new sports coordinator for the paper.
It’s a coming home for me of sorts, as I am a 1994 graduate of Alton High School and grew up in Fosterburg, so I am very familiar with the area.
I bring almost eight years of sports writing experience with me from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, and in addition to that I had two years of media relations experience with the now defunct Bluff City Bombers (when they played at Lloyd Hopkins Field inside Gordon Moore Park).
My experiences in prep sports have taken me all around the region, as I have covered regionals, sectionals and state tournaments. I have also covered regional collegiate and professional sporting events throughout my experiences.
My career has also given me experience in advertising sales, newspaper circulation and some marketing experience.
I plan to utilize all that knowledge to perform my duties at AdVantage News to the best of my abilities. As I dip into my bag of tricks for the AdVantage, I’d like to bring not only the best prep coverage to the paper, but also liven up our coverage with local sports features and other important stories I come across along the way. I will also be writing a weekly column covering local, regional and national events that are taking place in the sports world.
I also look to help out on the news side when needed.
Overall, I just hope I do a good job for you the reader and welcome any suggestions or feedback you may have to help me perform my position at the highest level possible. I’m glad to be serving you.
