BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — After just the third start of her career, SIUE sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Freeman has earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.
The native of Normal, Ill., made seven saves in two games last week and earned the first shutout of her career.
Freeman made a pair of saves Friday as the Cougars scored a 1-0 win over Austin Peay. She allowed a goal, but made five saves in a 1-1 double-overtime tie Sunday with Murray State.
SIUE remains in the hunt for an OVC championship. The Cougars are 5-1-1 in conference play and have 16 points. Murray State is 5-0-1 and has 17 points. Three games remain in the OVC regular season.
The Cougars will travel to Tennessee Tech Friday and Eastern Kentucky Sunday before finishing the season at home Oct. 27 against Eastern Illinois.
