Softball returns to Alton in a major way during August.
The Illinois Amateur Softball Association Co-Ed Tournament will play out Aug. 12-13 at Gordon F. Moore Park in Alton.
The three-day, weekend affair will feature double-elimination competition on four fields. Local team Westco will seek to defend its state championship. Westco defeated Ball Park of Jacksonville in last year’s title game to claim its second crown in four years. Ball Park finished first in 2013 and 2014.
Entry fee is $330 for each team in this year’s state finals.
ASA regional director Dean Emerick has also announced that local teams can register for men’s slow-pitch state tournaments. Entry fees are $330 per team in any of the men’s tourneys.
The Men’s Class C finals are scheduled for Aug. 5-7 in Rock Island.
The Men’s Class D and Class E finals are slated for July 22-24 at Decatur. The Class E one is for recreational-only teams.
Emerick said the entry deadline is July 1. For more information, contact him at DLEmerick7@yahoo.com or call 560-6061.
