ROXANA OPENS SCC WITH LOSS — Roxana's South Central Conference opener on Saturday in Pana didn't go quite the way it had imagined, as the Shells lost 64-54.
The loss left Roxana 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the SCC.
A rough start hindered the Shells, as they trailed 12-7 after one quarter and 31-20 at the break. They went on to outscore the Panthers 34-33 in a tight second half, but it wasn't enough to pull out the win.
Three Roxana players reached double figures in scoring, led by Trace Gentry's 20 points, which led all scorers. Cody McMillen chipped in with 16 points and Zach Golenor netted 14.
The Shells return to SCC action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when they welcome Litchfield to Larry Milazzo Gymnasium.
